The Ga East municipal assembly in the Greater Accra region has not been left out of the massive health infrastructure the government has embarked on in recent times in the health sector.

The municipality is blessed with its share as it is being provided with a state of art Municipal Hospital as promised by the government.

The Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Mr John Kwao Sackey who without doubt is excited about the project said the project is in the right direction looking at the population in the municipality.

He also noted that Atomic where the project is being sited is very strategic because it will make it easy for other beneficiaries from surrounding municipalities including Ga West, and La Nkwantanang/Madina.

Mr. Sackey indicated that at the moment the only public health facility in the municipality is the Polyclinic also located at Atomic so a start of the art hospital is most welcoming to deal with referral cases instead of the usual journey to other facilities located in the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.

According to him the Government of Ghana project under the Ministry of Health, like any other standard health facility, the 100 bed Municipal Hospital under construction would come with all necessary facilities including operating theatres,  maternity, obstetrics/gynaecology ward, theatre recovery unit, paediatric ward, Intensive care unit (ICU), Public health unit, male and female surgical wards, dental unit, medical wards,  radiology unit, accident and emergency wards, pharmacy/dispensary, and observation/out patient ward.

The rest are laboratory, blood bank, consulting rooms,   reception/waiting area, records office, conference and training facilities, kitchen, laundry, hospital stores, mortuary, maintenance unit/workshop, waste disposal unit as well as ambulance unit.
