Philanthropist called for support for the deprived | 29th June, 2017

A philanthropist who doubles as a legal consultant and a pastor, Mr Kwabena Ankamah has called for support for the deprived in society.
Mr Kwabena Ankamah made the call when the Kwabena Ankamah Family Foundation presented 120 bedsheets and 40 baby shawls to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital maternity ward at Mampong-Akuapem.

The items were to help the Hospital to take care of its patients especially those at the maternity ward and the newly born babies.

The donation, he said, was part of efforts to create awareness and motivate others to support the Hospital.

He explained that, government alone could not honour all the demands of society, hence the need for individuals and benevolent organizations to come on board and give the needed support to society.

A Midwife at Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, Ms Asare Yeboah said the items will go a long way to support patients, especially pregnant mothers and their babies, since the Hospital did not have adequate bed-sheets and the ones available were worn-out.

She said the Maternity Unit got not less than 12 admissions in a day and on busy days undertook about eight deliveries and four caesarean operations.

She appealed to NGO’s, organisations and well-meaning Ghanaians to come and support the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital.

The Administrator of the Hospital, Mr Francis Luguniah thanked the Ankamah Family Foundation for their support and their initiative to improve health care delivery.

He said without the support from corporate organisations, philanthropists and other well-meaning persons quality healthcare delivery could be a challenge, because health care was expensive and government alone could not afford.
