Mr Joseph Kwasi Assuming, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosomtwe, has cut the sod to begin the rehabilitation and expansion works of the Tetrefu community health centre in the district.
The project is being funded by the Sankofa Franco Ghana Association (SFGA), a France-based philanthropic organization, following an appeal made by the chiefs and people of the community.
The facility, which was started as a primary health centre in a single room over sixty years ago, had not seen any rehabilitation and is currently in very deplorable state.
The rehabilitation works would involve the expansion of the centre into a 10-bed capacity health facility with modern equipment to provide quality health care services to the people in order to improve their health conditions.
Mr Assuming speaking at the ceremony said the district assembly would provide all the needed support to ensure that the people received quality health care.
He also assured the people in the area of improved road network to ease the difficulties they go through in travelling from one place to another in the district.
Mr Assuming said the government was committed to honour all its campaign promises and urged the people to take active interest in the various initiatives being implemented by the government to improve on their socio-economic conditions.
Mr. Enock Otabil, SFGA Ghana representative, said the project would help uplift the facility to provide varied health services to improve the health situation of the people, especially women and children in the community.
Dr. Moses Barima, District Director of health services called on the people to ensure environmental cleanliness and adopt healthy lifestyle that would help prevent diseases.
