Takoradi Technical University gets new ambulance, adores new cloth | 19th April, 2018

The Takoradi Technical University as part of efforts to provide superior health care delivery has commissioned a brand new ambulance to the University community and the people in the Western Region.

 
The GH¢400,000.00 ambulance would be used to support health care delivery in the Region to save lives of people in emergencies.
 
The Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University, Reverend Professor John Frank Eshun, during the commissioning of the ambulance and unveiling of new University cloth, said it would help the University provide more services to students, staff and the communities in need of the services of the ambulance.
 
He said the University was in talks with the Regional Health Directorate to strategize on how health facilities could benefit from the services of the ambulance as a social responsibility to the communities surrounding the University.
 
Rev. Prof. Eshun indicated that the University Clinic had under-gone expansion to be upgraded into a Health Centre/ Hospital, with facilities such a new laboratory and pharmacy.
 
According to him the University hoped to upgrade its hospital to a world class medical facility and open it up to the public, which would not only generate revenue for the institution but also to fulfil its corporate-social responsibility to the neighbouring communities.
 
He added that the ambulance would enable the University Hospital offer superior emergency services to its cherished clients which included students, staff and the public.
 
“As part of our plans to upgrade to a Hospital, we have installed equipment to complete the laboratory and pharmacy and by August we will meet again to inaugurate the Hospital, he added.
 
Explaining the spirit behind the design of the University cloth, the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology, Dr Kweku Sarfo Ankama, said the design represented excellence in technical and vocational education in manpower training.
 
Dr Sarfo Ankama further explained that the logo symbolizes honesty and trustworthiness of its members and the nature of global world of technological education and training undertaken at the institution.
 
The motto: “Nsa, Akoma na adwen ma mpuntu” represented the skills and knowledge engender development.
 
Dr  Ankamah pointed out that the cloth which was made up of yellow and red colours,  observed that the rich yellow colour represented the wealth that results from the application of the skills and knowledge acquired through unique education at the institution, Whilst, the red colour symbolizes hard work and personal sacrifices which underlie success in all endeavours.
