The Management of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the Bolgatanga Municipality has awarded 15 health professionals, nine facilities and three sub-municipal zones for their contributions to healthcare delivery.

The staff, including nurses and midwives of various categories, laboratory technicians, disease control officers, among others, were drawn from various public healthcare facilities across the Municipality.

The awardees were Madam Martha Tsi-bo Yeboah, Mr. Dawda Sadique, Mr. Albert Mumuni, Madam Mauricia Ababu, Madam Modesta Akanbo, Madam Olivia Atota, Madam Faustina Kwaw and Madam Alberta Doyo Ackwerh.

The rest were Mr. Majeed Bentie, Mr. Samuel Yensoba, Hajia Hajara Sulemana Bobtoya, Madam Everlove Djarduh, Madam Jucunda Bavirewo, Madam Felicia Azusiyine and Madam Aisha Adam.

They each received citations of honour at the 2024 annual health performance review meeting of the Bolgatanga Municipal Health Directorate, held on the theme: “Networks of practice, our sure bet to achieving Universal Health Coverage”.

The meeting brought together officials from the Regional Health Directorate, Medical Officers, District Directors of the GHS, senior staff from across public and private health facilities, among other stakeholders in the Municipality.

Apart from the staff, Management recognized and awarded the Dagweo, Tindonmolgo and Bukere Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, the Coronation, Sherigu and Sokabisi Health Centres, including the Bolgatanga North, Plaza and Kalbeo sub-municipal zones for their contributions to healthcare delivery.

Mr. Stephen Bordotsiah, the Municipal Director of the GHS, on behalf of the Directorate, expressed their “sincerest appreciation and admiration” to the staff for the “outstanding efforts” in the healthcare delivery system.

He acknowledged the individuals for their passion for work and high ethics since joining the Service, and the year under review.

“We are motivated by your professionalism, sacrifice and dedication to work. “We pride ourselves in your hard work and selflessness, especially in carrying out additional responsibilities to great success. As always, we are counting on you to go the extra mile in the years ahead,” he told the awardees.

On how the staff was selected, Mr. Bordotsiah said a panel was constituted to interview and select out of the several dedicated and hard-working staff across the various health facilities in the Municipality.

He said the awardees were selected through transparent and rigorous processes devoid of biases, as they were generally accepted as deceiving of the honour by their own colleagues.

He said even though a few out of the numerous numbers of staff received awards, the efforts of all staff in the Municipality were significant and had over the years contributed to improved service delivery.

The Director urged the awardees not to relent on their efforts but continue to contribute to improve professional healthcare delivery, towards the achievement of Universal Health Coverage.

Some awardees, after the programme , thanked management of the Directorate for recognizing their efforts, and commended their colleague staff for the collaborative efforts and team work.
