The Juaben Municipal Health Directorate has commemorated the World Hypertension Day on May 27, 2025, with a call for residents to undergo regular blood pressure check-ups.

 

This years theme was "Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately,Control it, Live Longer!"

 

As part of the commemoration, a free health screening exercise was organised by Juaben Municipal Health Directorate to screen the residents of Juaben and its surrounding communities. The screening was on hypertension, popularly known as pressure, was not  at any cost.

 

In addition to the screening exercise, residents were sensitised on critical topics, checking blood pressure, blood sugar levels, ears, and providing general wellness advice, all for free.

 

Some beneficiaries also received relevant medication and counselling,whereas those with critical cases were referred for further treatment..

 

Mrs. Juliana Akumiah Opoku, Municipal Director of Health for Juaben, in an interview with the media after the program, emphasized the importance of regular check-ups in preventing and controlling hypertension.

 

She noted that the exercise was to raise awareness about hypertension and promote early detection and control.

 

She added that the exercise was to complement the efforts of Ghanas health services to address the challenges regarding citizens access to quality healthcare in Ghana.

 

According to her, the health screening formed part of the activities earmarked for this years World Hypertension Day Celebration.

 

Mrs. Opoku encouraged residents and Ghanaians in general to prioritize their health and undergo regular check-ups. She  expressed concern about the publics neglect of personal health.
