Universal Hospitals Group donates to University of Ghana Medical Centre | 25th July, 2024

The Universal Hospitals Group Limited (UHG) has donated some essential items to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) as part of its corporate social responsibility.
 
The items include cotton wool, paraffin gauze dressing, gauze bandage, plasters, personal protection equipment (PPEs), sutures, needles and syringes.
 
 Speaking at the donation ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of the company Mr. Frederick Amissah,  emphasised the importance the company attaches to giving back to the community especially where they operate.

Established in 1988, Universal Hospitals Group Limited (UHG) is a unique Ghanaian/West African company dedicated to delivering healthcare infrastructure projects.
 
The objective of the company is to improve the health and wellbeing of the people in the societies in which they operate.
 
Mr. Frederick Amissah explained that over the years, the portfolio of the company has expanded to include high-quality offerings from specialist project design, building, training of critical staff, equipment installation and maintenance.
 
It has also ventured into the supply of non-medical consumables and consultancy services.
 
 
With over 35 years of industry experience, UHG has undertaken over 60 projects, from small, medium and tertiary facilities in dental, physiotherapy and equipment installation across Ghana. UHG has also undertaken supply and installation of medical equipment at The Trust Hospitals, GPHA Hospital, Ministry of Health (Ghana), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as well as works in Liberia, The Gambia, Nigeria and Niger.
 
Into the future, Universal Hospitals Group Limited aims to embrace the ever-changing healthcare environment and explore opportunities as they emerge.
 
Speaking at the event, Dr George Ananie, the Head of Business Development for UHG stressed that the focus is to channel the products and services of the company to the vast market identified within and beyond the African continent.
 
Receiving the donations, Mrs. Lucy Brimpong Ofori-Ayeh, director of operations at the UGMC expressed profound gratitude to the company for the gesture.
 
She explained that the donation was timely and will address critical needs of the hospital.
 
She further called on other benevolent institutions to emulate the gesture of UHG.
 
On his part, Director of Medical Affairs, Dr. Baffoe Gyan said the University of Ghana Medical Centre being a specialist hospital receives more emergency cases that requires urgent attention so as to save lives. 
 
Other donations undertaken by the company in recent times include donations to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, the St John of God Hospital, the Princess Marie Louis Childrens Hospital, the Pantang Hospital and the Ridge Hospital amongst many others.
 
The company has also undertaken the construction of an eight-unit classroom complex at Boadua in the Eastern Region as well as provision of boreholes and other water systems for communities across the length and breadth of the country.
